Confidence is the site’s way of saying “wait for a real sample.” Early numbers stay muted so a handful of readers cannot look like a movement.
There are two common flavors:
- Audience confidence — based on lifetime unique readers versus typical stories on the site.
- Recent-activity confidence — based on unique readers in the recent window (used heavily by Momentum).
If Fan Score, Momentum, or Hidden Gem feel stuck near the floor after you launch, grow unique readers first. Quiet early charts are usually confidence — not a broken dashboard.
