Momentum is “is anyone reading this lately?” Think of it as this week’s buzz.
What feeds it (roughly the last seven days):
- Chapter opens
- New unique readers
- Chapter finishes / completions
- New follows
- New reviews
Opens and new readers matter most; finishes, follows, and reviews still count. Huge lifetime totals do not rescue a quiet week — Momentum cools when recent activity cools.
Brand-new stories often look soft here. The site waits for real recent readers before letting the number climb, so one lucky day does not look like a permanent trend. Trending rails usually also require a modest amount of recent activity before a title can appear at all.
Authors: if Momentum is low after you publish, check whether chapters are actually being opened, then keep a steady schedule. A viral day matters less than readers coming back. Popular is broader fame; Consistency is update rhythm; Momentum is the near-term pulse.
